Why do you not use tea bags?

Traditional tea bags contains plenty of plastics and are not biodegradable as one might think. We will never use any plastics in our products or packaging. Nowadays many tea bags also contains toxic chemicals which is a frightening development Reports show that the amount of plastic waste from tea bags are 1000 times larger than from plastic straws.


How do I prepare my Zenmaia oolong tea?

Use one teaspoon per two deciliters of hot water 80 - 90 degrees celsius and let steep for two to three minutes. You can re-brew the tea leaves up to five times, just add another minute to each steep time.


What is the story behind the name Zenmaia?

“Zen” is the mental state and mindset that we want to bring, not only to the way we drink our tea, but how we live our lives. “Maia” is the name of the grandmother of Zenmaia’s founder. Maia is a tea entusiast and has been a great inspiration for the company.


Where does the tea come from?

All of our teas are hand-picked in the Fujian Province of China.


What countries do you ship to?

Currently we only ship within Sweden but we will expand to more countries across Europe soon.


What are the health benefits of oolong tea?

Oolong tea is packed with good health benefits. A study published in the Journal of Medical Investigation showed that oolong tea improved metabolism and promoted weight loss when consumed regularly. Research has also found that people who drank oolong tea daily had lower risk of high total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol levels. A number of small studies suggest that oolong tea may inhibit ovarian, lung, and skin cancer when consumed regularly. A small, 30-day study conducted in Japan found that daily consumption of oolong tea lowered the glucose levels in its participants by as much as 30%. A naturally occurring compound in oolong tea is fluoride, a compound added to tap water in most developed countries to aide in mouth and gum health.


How much caffein does a cup of oolong tea contain?

Oolong tea has a low level of caffein, less than half a cup of coffee.


Can I cold-brew your oolong teas?

Yes! Use about 6 - 8 teaspoons of tea leaves for every liter of water. Let the tea steep in the refrigerator for about 4 hours. If it is too strong, simply add water. If it is too weak, add more leaves the next time.
